“How’s it going with four?!”
Exhausting yet SO rewarding.
It’s one more to load in the car, one more to feed, one more to remember things for, one more to calm when they’re upset, one more for everything.
But you know what else it is? One more to LOVE, one more to watch grow, one more to snuggle, one more to pray with, one more to laugh with, one more to hug, one more to sing with, one more to see all of the “firsts” for! And along with Ally’s firsts, I get to see Carter, Payton, and Levi’s firsts too with her. Lately Ally has started smiling and reacting more to our voices, and to see our older kids enjoy that so much is true joy.
Before I had kids, for some reason I always had this number of four little ones in my head, and then you have your first and you almost think that sounds a little crazy.. four kids?! But my goodness then once you have them and feel your heart literally grow with so much love, all of a sudden you can’t imagine what life was like without them. Motherhood is my whole life now, and that might mean I don’t have time for much else but that’s okay. My mind works and thinks completely different than I ever thought possible. And multi-tasking is basically a top personality trait of mine at this point! At the end of the day when all of the kids are finally asleep, even on the tougher days, my heart is full. Our kids childhood is happening right before my eyes and I thank God that I get to witness it, for all four of them.
Some days are harder than others, and that’s okay too. It’s a little louder in our house currently, and that’s more than okay too. I try to remember it all and I still forget things, that’s just fine as well. The days can feel long but the years are SO short and I feel that more and more as our kids get bigger!
So how is it going with four? I think as good as it can be! And we’re definitely taking it one day at a time. A little faith and lots of coffee, I’m so beyond thankful. Honestly it makes me want to cry! This season that God has me in is full, but oh so good.
Lots of love & God Bless,
-Alyssa
