“It’s July Already?!”

This seems to happen every summer! All of a sudden it’s July 1st, and I have to double check my calendar that it’s correct. When Carter looked at our calendar this morning, he was the first one who noticed that it was a new month! He couldn’t believe it either that it is already the Fourth of July later this week. I think when a new month begins, there is extra excitement in the air. It’s such a great opportunity for fresh starts, good memories ahead, and new goals.

When summertime hits, I know I will instantly go and plan a bunch of fun things to do with the kids. Whether it’s Vacation Bible School, which speaking of that, here is a link for the Holy Family Church’s VBS coming up in August:

There are plenty of volunteer spots still available as well when you are signing your kiddos up!

But in the summer, I will also find a mini sports camp for Carter and Payton to get into, we definitely have plenty of beach days, helping in the garden, some mini school lessons to stay fresh, bubbles and chalk fun, but most of all adding a good bundle of memories to the list and trying new things. Now as much as I want to keep our kids busy, I also love our summer days right at home. I love when the school year comes, but I also miss having all three kids home together! The older Levi gets, the more he loves when Carter and Payton are home with him. Towards the end of the school year this year, I felt like he didn’t really know what to do without them home during school hours! We love summer, and having everyone home.

This morning when we realized it was July 1st, I felt my heart tug a little with emotions. As exciting as another month is, I also see that time is just flying by, and our kids keep getting bigger! What did we even do in June for it to go by so quickly?! Did I do enough with the kids? Did we soak in enough family time? Did I take enough pictures?! I tend to overthink things, and second guess myself every now and then, so the thoughts were bursting through my brain saying just that! But then I started looking back, and we sure made some amazing memories in June! We have soaked up our summer so far.

I’m sure I am not the only one who feels like summer is just flying by way too fast. Let’s take the time to reflect on our memories so far but also dive into creating new ones until the school year begins again. One thing we actually decided to work on today, is making a bucket list for the rest of our summer. I think this activity would be a great one for you to do with your family and little one’s that you are spending your summer with too! A few things the kid’s added were:

  • 10 more boat rides (I think we can beat that 😉 )
  • “Celebrate my birthday” (This was Payton’s lol!)
  • Go on a picnic
  • Find 83 pieces of beach glass – Mom we have our work cut out for us!
  • Ride bikes
  • Organize our toys on a rainy day
  • Visit our local museum
  • Use our Ben Franklin gift cards (I honestly forgot we even had them, thanks kids LOL!)
  • Have more ice cream trips
  • Spiderman! – Levi 😉
  • Go Fishing

This was such a fun and little activity to do with the kids! Even Levi put in his two cents as Carter and Payton were rambling off different things to add. We hope your bucket list brings some fun and memorable moments for your household as well. YES it is July already, but we still have plenty more of summer to go. Let’s make the very best of it and hold our moments with our little one’s close!

I hope you have a very safe Fourth of July this week, and get to spend time with your loved ones!

Lots of love and God Bless,

-Alyssa
